Get your Garbage  Bag Tags @ BTPL

Garbage Bag Tags

Garbage Bag Tags are special peel-and-stick labels that can be attached to your garbage bag.
Residents setting out more than four bags of garbage are required to tag each

bag over the four bag limit.

Bag Tag
Garbage Bag Tags are easy to use:

  • Simply peel the tag and flag it around the top of any additional bags above the four bag limit.
  • Do NOT use as a twist-tie.
  • When using garbage cans, tags should be placed on the top item inside the can.
  • There is no limit to the number of properly tagged garbage bags set out for collection, provided they are tagged.

New Cannington Library!

Why do we need a new facility?

Current facility is inadequate to meet on-going and future needs of a vital and healthy community

L      No room

  • To add new materials - e.g. storage challenges for books, DVD’s, CD’s, etc.
  • For accessibility - e.g. wheelchair, mobility aids, etc.
  • To add more computer terminals
  • To prepare for and deliver child, teen and adult programming
  • For the public to sit and read, study, congregate, etc.
  • For staff to sufficiently prepare and deliver programs and services
  • To properly support our community partners - e.g. Historical Society’s Microfilm Reader
  • Facility concerns - e.g. unpleasant odours, heating and air conditioning issues, flooding in the basement, etc.

Benefits to the community:

J      Will better support student education, information literacy and lifelong learning

J     Will function as a "Community Anchor" and provide a safe place for members of the  community to socialize

J     Will provide equal and convenient access to all, including those with disabilities

J     Will attract people, businesses and investment magnets looking to relocate/invest in   our community

J     Will serve as a social equalizer by offering programs and services to people from all backgrounds and walks of life

J      Will contribute to community development by offering access to new technologies and the Internet

J      Will nourish community identity by offering access to historical resources and by
partnering with other community organizations to promote cultural programming
